Kaypoh

Kaypoh is a word which many Singaporeans, Malaysians, and Indonesians use. In Bahasa Indonesia slang, it is usually written as 'kepo'.

Kaypoh (雞婆) is a slang word that means 'to act as busybody', 'nosy', or 'prying into other people's business'. We use this word for people who are too curious about what are other people doing.

Four years ago, my roommate said that I was too kaypoh. I myself didn't think so because I just enjoy listening to other people stories. Well, maybe I asked too much? Maybe I didn't realize.

I asked all my roommates to leave me some messages in a special notebook. This roommate wrote that I should stop being nosy or I will be cursed in my grave 😂.

For me, I don't have problems with people who are 'kaypoh'. I suppose it is because there are no people who are nosy about my life. But yesterday, I was quite shocked. I found that my colleague is a super nosy person. I think my ex-roommate should meet her so she can see that my level of kaypoh-ness is nothing.

I was in yakitori restaurant with my team leader and one colleague. We were talking about how period can affect so much on female emotion. I asked my team leader whether his wife is still having period.

"Shitsurei!" said my colleague to me. Shitsurei means 'rude'.

"Shitsurei na no?" I was only asking whether my team leader's wife hasn't face menopause.

"Of course, shitsurei!" 🤔

Not even one minute after I asked that question. My colleague asked my team leader, "Have you ever cheated on your wife?"

I'm on my mind: "Which one is more rude!!!"

I really do not understand how does she judge a rudeness. 🥱

She was my mentor and super nice. She's just a super kaypoh person. She's leaving our company soon... I will miss her so much!
