Sudden Advice

This morning, mom sent a message on family’s WhatsApp group chat. Which only has three members 🥱

“Be careful of what you say.”

E? Nanka atta?
Why did out of blue mom send that message?

So, I replied, “What happened?”

“Just be careful of what say. Always say something good because words are powerful.”

My mom continued, “Noni died. She went outside so I called her, ‘Noni! Come home! Don’t play on the road. You will get hit by the car!’ Only few seconds after I warned her, a car hit her. She died in front of my eyes. I saw blood came from her body, but it wasn’t from her head. I cried.”

Noni was my mom’s cat. I even haven’t met her yet. Poor Noni.

We can’t meet now so see you later in afterlife, Noni.

Suddenly, I remember what my grandfather always said to me. He died when I was eight year-old yet I still remember his words.

“وَقُولُوا قَوْلًا سَدِيدًا ”

wa-qulū qawlan sadīda

which means ‘speak upright words’. Speak honest and good, because through words your cleanliness of heart and mind is displayed.

Note:
Nanka atta (なんかあった?) = something happened?
